Options: A wide array of options is availabe to aid the musician in designing the instrument that most closely sattisfies his needs. Upon consultation with me, we will eventually come out with a design that has most or all the needed specifications and it is possible to build.
Body: Any combination of top and back woods can be used in order to achieve the needed tonal properties. In addition special construction techniques like chambering or laminating can be used towards the desired sound. GD
Neck: Single piece or multi-piece necks can be used according to the players tonal desires. Fingerboard wood is chosen to complement the whole instrument. Overall dimensions like scale, nut width, depth, fretwire size are designed according to the player's needs and specific construction. Shell or wood inlays are possible, although the simple woody look is prefered. Wide choice of nut materials. Oil finishing available for a super smooth feel.
Hardware: Only the best quality hardware is used on Loukakis Instruments. Bridges from Gotoh,Schaller,Hipshot,Wilkinson, Mann Made and tuners from Gotoh, Schaller and Sperzel, in gold, nickel(prefered) or black. All other hardware is chosen apropriattely.
Electronics: Electronics have a very important role on the sound of the guitar. So only the best is used to complement the fine acoustic sound of Loukakis Guitars. Pickups from Seymour Duncan, Tom Anderson, John Suhr, Lindy Fralin, Van Zandt, Benedetto, Kent Armstrong. Potentiometers from CRL USA. Switches and Jacks from SWITCHCRAFT USA. Piezo and pre-amps from B-Band. All contribute to amplify the sound of the wood with the greatest fidelity.
Finishing: A wide range of finishing options is available. From traditional sprayed finishes in solvent or waterbase urethanes, nitrocellulose lacquer(very toxic for the sprayer!!) to more fine "old world" hand rubbed finishes like french polishing or oil finishing for that antique instrument feel. I will try to match any chromatic desire within the available materials... and reason!!
